For this project, we had to look at drapes which were draped over stools. We could focus on one part of the stool or all of it. When I started drawing it, I found it extremely difficult and I was focusing a lot on little details. But when I did that I ended up getting frustrated and not liking my work, so I started rushing it to finish at least a main part, and then put more details on it later. However, I found that when I started going faster and just drawing what I saw, that I liked my product a lot better. I had to work with myself on this because I had never worked with graphite before and it was a difficult thing to get started drawing. But once I got going, I liked it a lot better.
For this project, there were many steps. First, we had to prime our papers with gesso. Then, we painted over them using red paint. on top of that, we used chalk to sketch out our pears and tables, and then started painting. There was a main color scheme we had to stay with when painting the pears, so slowly we added on more paint to get them how we wanted them. For the backgrounds and tables, we could pick whatever colors we wanted, but the shadow of the pear had to be the opposite on the color wheel of the table for that pear. To finish, we added our stems. For this project I worked a lot on my patience with my artwork because I do not have much experience painting and it was kind of difficult to get used to.
For this project, we had to pick out cookie cutters or whatever we wanted, and cut out clay slabs. We then got to decorate them however we wanted and put holes in them before they were fired in the kiln. Once they were fired, we could decorate them with markers or whatever else we wanted. After that we put strings on them and they were complete. We got to be very creative for this project because we could do whatever we wanted really.
